حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ الزُّرَقِيِّ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ أَنَّ النَّاسَ كَانُوا يُكْرُونَ الْمَزَارِعَ فِي زَمَانِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْ
هِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْمَاذِيَانَاتِ وَمَا سَقَى الرَّبِيعُ وَشَيْئًا مِنْ التِّبْنِ فَكَرِهَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كِرَاءَ الْمَزَارِعِ بِهَذَا وَنَهَى عَنْهَا و قَالَ رَافِعٌ لَا بَأْسَ بِكِرَائِهَا بِالدَّرَاهِمِ وَالدَّنَانِيرِ

English Translation
Qutaybah ibn Saʿīd narrated to us, he said: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Muḥammad narrated to us, from Rabīʿah ibn Abī ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from Ḥanẓalah al-Zuraqī, from Rāfiʿ ibn Khadīj, that people used to rent out farmland during the time of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ for what grew on the waterways, or for something the owner of the land reserved for himself. the Prophet ﷺ forbade that. I said to Rāfiʿ: 'What about renting with gold and silver dinars and dirhams?' He said: 'There is no harm in renting with gold and silver.'
