حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ أُتِيَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فِي امْرَأَةٍ تَزَوَّجَهَا رَجُ
لٌ ثُمَّ مَاتَ عَنْهَا وَلَمْ يَفْرِضْ لَهَا صَدَاقًا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ دَخَلَ بِهَا قَالَ فَاخْتَلَفُوا إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ أَرَى لَهَا مِثْلَ صَدَاقِ نِسَائِهَا وَلَهَا الْمِيرَاثُ وَعَلَيْهَا الْعِدَّةُ فَشَهِدَ مَعْقِلُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ الْأَشْجَعِيُّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَضَى فِي بِرْوَعَ ابْنَةِ وَاشِقٍ بِمِثْلِ مَا قَضَى

English Translation
Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us, he said: Sufyān informed us, from Manṣūr, from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah, who said: ʿAbdullāh (ibn Masʿūd) was consulted about a woman whom a man married but then died before setting a dowry (ṣadāq) for her and before consummating the marriage. He deliberated for nearly a month, then said: 'She receives a dowry like that of her peers — no less and no more. She must observe the waiting period (ʿiddah) and she receives inheritance.' Maʿqil ibn Sinān al-Ashjaʿī stood up and said: 'The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ ruled the same in the case of Birwaʿ bint Wāshiq, a woman from among us.' ʿAbdullāh was delighted by that.
