قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زِيَادٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي جَدَّتِي الرَّبَابُ وَقَالَ يُونُسُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ حُنَيْفٍ يَقُولُ مَرَرْنَا بِسَيْلٍ فَدَخَلْتُ فَاغْتَسَلْتُ مِنْهُ فَخَرَجْتُ مَحْ
مُومًا فَنُمِيَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ مُرُوا أَبَا ثَابِتٍ يَتَعَوَّذُ قُلْتُ يَا سَيِّدِي وَالرُّقَى صَالِحَةٌ قَالَ لَا رُقْيَةَ إِلَّا فِي نَفْسٍ أَوْ حُمَةٍ أَوْ لَدْغَةٍ قَالَ عَفَّانُ النَّظْرَةُ وَاللَّدْغَةُ وَالْحُمَةُ

English Translation
Yūnus ibn Muḥammad and ʿAffān narrated to us, they said: ʿAbd al-Wāḥid — meaning Ibn Ziyād — narrated to us, he said: ʿUthmān ibn Ḥakīm narrated to us, he said: my grandmother al-Rabāb narrated to me — and Yūnus said in his narration: she said: I heard Sahl ibn Ḥunayf say: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'Whoever sincerely asks Allāh for martyrdom, Allāh will grant him the station of the martyrs, even if he dies on his bed.'
