English Translation
Haytham ibn Khārijah narrated to us: Ṭayyāf al-Iskandarānī narrated to us, from the son of Sharāḥīl ibn Bukayl, from his father Shuraḥbīl, who said: I said to Ibn ʿUmar: 'I have relatives in Egypt who make (wine) from these grapes.' He said: 'Does any Muslim do that?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Do not be like the Jews — fat was forbidden to them, so they sold it and consumed its price.' I said: 'What do you say about a man who takes a bunch of grapes, squeezes it, and drinks it?' He said: 'There is no harm in it.' When I dismounted (to leave), he said: 'Whatever is permissible to drink is permissible to sell.'
