قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْأَشْعَثِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَوْسُ بْنُ أَوْسٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَذَكَرَ الْجُمُعَةَ فَقَالَ مَنْ غَسَّلَ وَاغْتَسَلَ ثُمَّ غَدَا وَابْت
َكَرَ وَخَرَجَ يَمْشِي وَلَمْ يَرْكَبْ ثُمَّ دَنَا مِنْ الْإِمَامِ فَأَنْصَتَ وَلَمْ يَلْغُ كَانَ لَهُ كَأَجْرِ سَنَةٍ صِيَامِهَا وَقِيَامِهَا قَالَ وَزَعَمَ يَحْيَى بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّهُ حَفِظَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ كَأَجْرِ سَنَةٍ صِيَامِهَا وَقِيَامِهَا قَالَ يَحْيَى وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ يَقُولُ مَشَى وَلَمْ يَرْكَبْ

English Translation
ʿAlī ibn Isḥāq narrated to us, ʿAlī ibn al-Mubārak informed us, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yazīd ibn Jābir informed us, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Dimashqī narrated to me, Abū al-Ashʿath narrated to me, Aws ibn Aws al-Thaqafī narrated to me, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ mention Friday and say: 'Whoever washes and bathes, then goes early and arrives early, and goes out walking without riding, then draws near to the imam and remains silent without engaging in idle speech, he shall have the reward of a year's fasting and prayer.' He said: Yaḥyā ibn al-Ḥārith claimed that he memorized from Abū al-Ashʿath that he said: 'For every step, the reward of a year's fasting and prayer.' Yaḥyā said: 'But I did not hear him say: walked and did not ride.'
