حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ قَالَ قَالَ هِشَامُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ جَاءَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَصَابَنَا قَ
رْحٌ وَجَهْدٌ فَكَيْفَ تَأْمُرُنَا قَالَ احْفِرُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَاجْعَلُوا الرَّجُلَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَةَ فِي الْقَبْرِ قَالُوا فَأَيُّهُمْ نُقَدِّمُ قَالَ أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا قَالَ فَقُدِّمَ أَبِي عَامِرٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَجُلٍ أَوْ اثْنَيْنِ

English Translation
Bahz narrated to us, he said: Sulaymān ibn al-Mughīrah narrated to us, he said: Ḥumayd ibn Hilāl narrated to us, he said: Hishām ibn ʿĀmir said: The Anṣār came to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ on the day of Uḥud and said: O Messenger of Allāh, we have suffered wounds and great hardship. How do you command us regarding our dead? He said: "Dig, make the graves wide, and place two and three in a single grave." They said: Which of them should we put forward? He said: "The one who memorized more Qurʾān." He said: So my father ʿĀmir was put forward before one or two men.
