English Translation
Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us, he said: Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq informed us, from Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-Ḥārith, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdillāh ibn ʿAtīk — one of Banū Salimah — from his father ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAtīk who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: 'Whoever leaves his house as a fighter in the way of Allāh عز وجل' — then he gestured with these three fingers: the middle, the index, and the thumb, gathering them together, and said — 'and where are the true fighters? If he falls from his mount and dies, his reward is guaranteed by Allāh. Or if a creature stings him and he dies, his reward is guaranteed by Allāh. Or if he dies a natural death, his reward is guaranteed by Allāh عز وجل.' By Allāh, it is a word I never heard from any Arab before the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ: 'he dies, and his reward is guaranteed by Allāh.' 'And whoever dies killed in battle has earned the final return.'
