حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ جَاءَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي مَرَرْتُ بِأَخٍ لِي مِنْ بَنِي قُرَيْظَةَ فَكَتَبَ لِي جَوَامِعَ مِنْ التَّوْرَاةِ أَلَا أَعْرِضُهَا عَلَيْكَ قَالَ فَتَغَيَّرَ وَجْهُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَا
لَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ أَلَا تَرَى مَا بِوَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِينَا بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَسُولًا قَالَ فَسُرِّيَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ أَصْبَحَ فِيكُمْ مُوسَى ثُمَّ اتَّبَعْتُمُوهُ وَتَرَكْتُمُونِي لَضَلَلْتُمْ إِنَّكُمْ حَظِّي مِنْ الْأُمَمِ وَأَنَا حَظُّكُمْ مِنْ النَّبِيِّينَ

English Translation
ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, he said: Sufyān informed us, from Jābir, from al-Shaʿbī, from ʿAbdullāh ibn Thābit, who said: ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, I passed by a Jewish brother of mine from Qurayẓah, and he wrote for me some comprehensive passages from the Torah. Shall I present them to you?' The face of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ changed. ʿAbdullāh ibn Thābit said to ʿUmar: 'Do you not see the face of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ?' ʿUmar said: 'We are pleased with Allāh as our Lord, with Islam as our religion, and with Muḥammad as our Messenger.' the Prophet ﷺ was pleased and said: 'By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muḥammad, if Mūsā were to appear among you and you followed him and left me, you would have gone astray. You are my share among the nations, and I am your share among the Prophet ﷺs.'
