حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِرَجُلٍ كَيْفَ تَقُولُ فِي
الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ أَتَشَهَّدُ ثُمَّ أَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ النَّارِ أَمَا إِنِّي لَا أُحْسِنُ دَنْدَنَتَكَ وَلَا دَنْدَنَةَ مُعَاذٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَوْلَهَا نُدَنْدِنُ

English Translation
Muʿāwiyah ibn ʿAmr narrated to us, he said: Zāʾidah narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash, from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from some of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, who said: the Prophet ﷺ said to a man: 'How do you say in prayer?' He said: 'I recite the tashahhud, then I say: O Allāh, I ask You for Paradise and I seek refuge in You from the Fire.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'We drone around those two (i.e., our supplications ultimately revolve around asking for Paradise and seeking refuge from the Fire).'
