Hadith #115

English Translation

Makkī ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us, he said: Yazīd ibn Abī ʿUbayd narrated to us, from Salamah ibn al-Akwaʿ, who said: I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, then I turned aside to the shade of a tree. When the crowd thinned around the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, he said: "O Ibn al-Akwaʿ, will you not pledge?" I said: I have already pledged, O Messenger of Allāh. He said: "And again." So I pledged to him a second time. Yazīd said: I asked him: O Abū Muslim, upon what did you pledge that day? He said: Upon death.
