حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ

حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَسُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ إِنْسَانٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ الْقَسَامَةَ كَانَتْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ قَسَامَةَ الدَّمِ فَأَقَرَّهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى مَا كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَقَضَى بِهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ أُنَاسٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ مِنْ بَنِي حَارِثَةَ ادَّعُوهُ عَلَى الْيَهُودِ

English Translation

Ḥajjāj narrated to us, he said: Layth narrated to us, he said: ʿUqayl narrated to me, from Ibn Shihāb, from Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān and Sulaymān ibn Yasār, from a man of the Anṣār among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ: The qasāmah (collective oath procedure in murder cases) existed in the Jāhiliyyah. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ affirmed it as it had been in the Jāhiliyyah, and the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ judged by it between people of the Anṣār from Banū Ḥārithah who made a claim against the Jews.
