English Translation
ʿUthmān ibn ʿUmar narrated to us, he said: Mālik ibn Anas informed us, from Sumayy, from Abū Bakr ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Ḥārith, from a man among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ fasted during a journey in the year of the Conquest and ordered his companions to break their fast, saying: You will encounter your enemy, so strengthen yourselves. It was said: O Messenger of Allāh, the people have fasted because of your fasting. When he reached al-Kadīd, he broke his fast. The one who narrated to me said: I saw the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ pouring water on his head from the heat while he was fasting.
