قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ مُهَاجِرٍ الصَّائِغِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ لَمْ يُسَمِّهِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى الل
َّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ قَالَ أَمَّا هَذَا فَقَدْ بَرِئَ مِنْ الشِّرْكِ وَسَمِعَ آخَرَ يَقْرَأُ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ فَقَالَ أَمَّا هَذَا فَقَدْ غُفِرَ لَهُ

English Translation
al-Aswad ibn ʿĀmir narrated to us, he said: Sharīk narrated to us, from Muhājir al-Ṣāʾigh, from a man he did not name among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ: He heard a man — meaning the Prophet ﷺ — reciting Qul Yā Ayyuhā al-Kāfirūn (Sūrah 109). He said: As for this one, he has been freed from shirk. And he heard another reciting Qul Huwa Allāhu Aḥad (Sūrah 112). He said: As for this one, he has been forgiven.
