English Translation
Muʿāwiyah ibn ʿAmr narrated to us, he said: Zāʾidah narrated to us, he said: al-Rukayn ibn al-Rabīʿ ibn ʿUmaylah narrated to us, from Abū ʿAmr al-Shaybānī, from a man of the Anṣār, from the Prophet ﷺ, he said: Horses are of three types: a horse that a man ties in the way of Allāh عز وجل — its price is a reward, riding it is a reward, lending it is a reward, and feeding it is a reward. And a horse that a man uses for gambling and wagering — its price is a burden (wizr) and feeding it is a burden. And a horse kept for one's belly (personal use) — perhaps it will be a protection from poverty, if Allāh Most High wills.
