حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ الصَّعْبَ بْنَ جَثَّامَةَ اللَّيْثِيَّ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَل
َّمَ يُخْبِرُ أَنَّهُ أَهْدَى لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ بِالْأَبْوَاءِ أَوْ بِوَدَّانَ وَالنَّبِيُّ مُحْرِمٌ فَرَدَّهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الصَّعْبُ فَلَمَّا عَرَفَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي وَجْهِي رَدَّهُ هَدِيَّتِي قَالَ لَيْسَ بِنَا رَدٌّ عَلَيْكَ وَلَكِنِّي حُرُمٌ

English Translation
ʿAbdullāh narrated to us, he said: Isḥāq ibn Manṣūr narrated to me, he said: Abū al-Yamān al-Ḥakam ibn Nāfiʿ informed us, he said: Shuʿayb informed us, from al-Zuhrī, he said: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAbdillāh ibn ʿUtbah ibn Masʿūd informed me that ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbbās informed him that he heard al-Ṣaʿb ibn Jaththāmah al-Laythī — who was a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ — report that he gave the Prophet ﷺ a wild donkey at al-Abwāʾ or at Waddān while the Prophet ﷺ was in iḥrām. the Prophet ﷺ returned it. Al-Ṣaʿb said: When the Prophet ﷺ recognized on my face the displeasure at his returning my gift, he said: It is not that we are rejecting your gift, but rather I am in a state of iḥrām.
