Hadith #260

English Translation

Muḥammad ibn Bakr al-Bursānī narrated to us, he said: ʿUbaydullāh ibn Abī Ziyād informed us, he said: ʿAbdullāh ibn Kathīr al-Dārī narrated to me, from Mujāhid, who said: A shaykh who lived in the Jāhiliyyah narrated to us while we were on the expedition of Rhodes, called Ibn ʿAbs. He said: I used to tend a cow belonging to a family of ours, and I heard from its belly: 'O family of Dharīḥ! A clear statement! A man calling out: there is no god but Allāh.' He said: So we came to Makkah and found that the Prophet ﷺ had emerged in Makkah.
