حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْحِمْصِيُّ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْمِقْدَامِ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمِقْدَامِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ قَالَ غَزَوْتُ مَعَ خَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ الصَّائِفَةَ فَقَرِمَ أَصْحَابِي إِلَى اللَّحْمِ فَقَالُوا أَتَأْذَنُ لَنَا أَنْ نَذْبَحَ رَمْكَةً لَهُ قَالَ فَحَبَلُوهَا فَقُلْتُ مَكَانَكُمْ حَتَّى آتِيَ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ فَأَسْأَلَهُ عَنْ
ذَلِكَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ خَبَرَ أَصْحَابِي فَقَالَ غَزَوْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَزْوَةَ خَيْبَرَ فَأَسْرَعَ النَّاسُ فِي حَظَائِرِ يَهُودَ فَقَالَ يَا خَالِدُ نَادِ فِي النَّاسِ أَنَّ الصَّلَاةَ جَامِعَةٌ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا مُسْلِمٌ فَفَعَلْتُ فَقَامَ فِي النَّاسِ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ مَا بَالُكُمْ أَسْرَعْتُمْ فِي حَظَائِرِ يَهُودَ أَلَا لَا تَحِلُّ أَمْوَالُ الْمُعَاهَدِينَ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا وَحَرَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ حُمُرُ الْأَهْلِيَّةِ وَالْإِنْسِيَّةِ وَخَيْلُهَا وَبِغَالُهَا وَكُلُّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنْ السِّبَاعِ وَكُلُّ ذِي مِخْلَبٍ مِنْ الطَّيْرِ

English Translation
Al-Miqdām ibn Maʿdīkarib narrated: I went on a summer campaign with Khālid ibn al-Walīd, and my companions craved meat. They said: 'Will you permit us to slaughter a mare belonging to him?' They hobbled it, and I said: 'Wait until I go to Khālid ibn al-Walīd and ask him about that.' So I went to him and told him about my companions. He said: 'I went on the expedition of Khaybar with the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, and the people rushed into the Jewish enclosures. He said: O Khālid, call out among the people that the prayer is congregating, and that no one enters Paradise except a Muslim. So I did, and he stood among the people and said: O people, why have you rushed into the Jewish enclosures? The property of treaty people is not lawful except by its due right. Forbidden to you are domestic and tame donkeys, their horses, their mules, every beast of prey with fangs, and every bird with talons.'
