حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ عَنْ
ذِي مِخْمَرٍ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ سَتُصَالِحُكُمْ الرُّومُ صُلْحًا آمِنًا ثُمَّ تَغْزُونَ وَهُمْ عَدُوًّا فَتُنْصَرُونَ وَتَسْلَمُونَ وَتَغْنَمُونَ ثُمَّ تَنْصُرُونَ الرُّومَ حَتَّى تَنْزِلُوا بِمَرْجٍ ذِي تُلُولٍ فَيَرْفَعُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ النَّصْرَانِيَّةِ صَلِيبًا فَيَقُولُ غَلَبَ الصَّلِيبُ فَيَغْضَبُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَيَقُومُ إِلَيْهِ فَيَدُقُّهُ فَعِنْدَ ذَلِكَ يَغْدِرُ الرُّومُ وَيَجْمَعُونَ لِلْمَلْحَمَةِ

English Translation
Dhū Mikhmar, a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ, narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: 'You will make a secure peace treaty with the Romans. Then you and they will fight an enemy behind them, and you will be victorious, safe, and take spoils. Then you will aid the Romans until you camp at a meadow with hillocks. A man from the Christians will raise a cross and say: The cross has prevailed! A man from the Muslims will become angry, stand up, and smash it. At that point the Romans will betray and gather for the great battle [al-malḥamah].'
