حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا قَيْسٌ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ بْنِ حَرْبٍ أَخَذَ مِنْ أَطْرَافِ يَعْنِي شَعَرَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَيَّامِ الْعَشْرِ بِمِشْقَصٍ مَعِي وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ وَالنَّاسُ يُنْكِرُونَ ذَلِكَ
English Translation
Muʿāwiyah ibn Abī Sufyān ibn Ḥarb narrated that he trimmed the ends — meaning the hair — of the Prophet ﷺ during the days of ʿAshr [the ten days of Dhū al-Ḥijjah] with a mishqaṣ [a broad-headed arrow used as a blade] that he had, while the Prophet ﷺ was in the state of iḥrām and the people were looking on.
