حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنِي سَعْدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ مَعْبَدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ كَانَ مُعَاوِيَةُ قَلَّمَا يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّ
مَ شَيْئًا وَيَقُولُ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ قَلَّمَا يَدَعُهُنَّ أَوْ يُحَدِّثُ بِهِنَّ فِي الْجُمَعِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ يُرِدْ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهُّ فِي الدِّينِ وَإِنَّ هَذَا الْمَالَ حُلْوٌ خَضِرٌ فَمَنْ يَأْخُذْهُ بِحَقِّهِ يُبَارَكْ لَهُ فِيهِ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالتَّمَادُحَ فَإِنَّهُ الذَّبْحُ

English Translation
Muʿāwiyah narrated — via Maʿbad al-Juhanī — that Muʿāwiyah rarely narrated anything from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, but he would say these words frequently, rarely leaving them — or he would narrate them — on Fridays from the Prophet ﷺ. He said: 'Whoever Allāh intends good for, He gives him understanding in the religion. And this wealth is sweet and green. Whoever takes it by its right, he is blessed in it. And beware of mutual praise, for it is the slaughter.'
