حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ رَبِيعَة
َ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْيَحْصَبِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ يُحَدِّثُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ إِيَّاكُمْ وَأَحَادِيثَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا حَدِيثًا كَانَ عَلَى عَهْدِ عُمَرَ وَإِنَّ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ كَانَ أَخَافَ النَّاسَ فِي اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ يُرِدْ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهُّ فِي الدِّينِ وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّمَا أَنَا خَازِنٌ وَإِنَّمَا يُعْطِي اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَمَنْ أَعْطَيْتُهُ عَطَاءً عَنْ طِيبِ نَفْسٍ فَهُوَ أَنْ يُبَارَكَ لِأَحَدِكُمْ وَمَنْ أَعْطَيْتُهُ عَطَاءً عَنْ شَرَهٍ وَشَرَهِ مَسْأَلَةٍ فَهُوَ كَالْآكِلِ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ لَا تَزَالُ أُمَّةٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي ظَاهِرِينَ عَنْ الْحَقِّ لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ مَنْ خَالَفَهُمْ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ وَهُمْ ظَاهِرُونَ عَلَى النَّاسِ

English Translation
Muʿāwiyah narrated — via ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿĀmir al-Yaḥṣubī — : Beware of narrating hadith from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ except hadith that was known during the time of ʿUmar, and ʿUmar رضي الله تعالى عنه was the one who made people fear Allāh عز وجل the most. I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: 'Whoever Allāh intends good for, He gives him understanding in the religion.' And I heard him say: 'I am only a treasurer; it is Allāh عز وجل who gives. Whoever I give a gift to with a willing heart, he will be blessed in it. And whoever I give a gift to due to his greed and insatiable asking, he is like one who eats and is never satisfied.' And I heard him say: 'A group from my ummah will remain manifest upon the truth. Those who oppose them will not harm them, until the command of Allāh comes while they are prevailing over people.'
