ʿAbdullāh said: I read this ḥadīth to my father. ʿAbbād ibn ʿAbbād and Ibn Abī ʿAdī narrated to us, from Ibn ʿAwn, from Makhūl: that ʿUqbah — Ibn Abī ʿAdī said: came to Maslamah ibn Mukhallad in Egypt, and there had been something between him and the doorkeeper. He was heard, and was given permission. He said: "I did not come to visit you, rather I came for a need. Do you remember the day" — ʿAbbād said in his ḥadīth — "the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'Whoever knows of a fault of his brother and conceals it, Allāh عز وجل will conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection'?" He said: "Yes." He said: "This is why I came." Ibn Abī ʿAdī said in his ḥadīth: ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir rode to Maslamah ibn Mukhallad while he was governor of Egypt.
