حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ بِشْرِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ اللَّيْثِيُّ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ قَالَ الْقَائِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَاللّ
َهِ مَا قَالَ الَّذِي قَالَ إِلَّا تَعَوُّذًا مِنْ الْقَتْلِ فَذَكَرَ قِصَّتَهُ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تُعْرَفُ الْمَسَاءَةُ فِي وَجْهِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَبَى عَلَيَّ مَنْ قَتَلَ مُؤْمِنًا قَالَهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ

English Translation
Hāshim narrated to us, he said: Sulaymān narrated to us, from Ḥumayd ibn Hilāl, from Bishr ibn ʿĀṣim, he said: ʿUqbah ibn Mālik al-Laythī narrated to us, he said: While the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was delivering a sermon, a speaker said: "O Messenger of Allāh, by Allāh, that man did not say what he said except seeking refuge from being killed." He mentioned the story. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ turned to him, and displeasure was visible on his face. Then he said: "Allāh عز وجل has refused me regarding the one who killed a believer" — he said it three times.
