English Translation
Sufyān narrated to us, from Sālim Abū al-Naḍr, the freedman of ʿUmar ibn ʿUbaydillāh ibn Maʿmar, from Busr ibn Saʿīd who said: Abū Juhaym — the nephew of Ubayy ibn Kaʿb — sent me to Zayd ibn Khālid to ask him what he had heard regarding one who passes in front of a person praying. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: "It would be better for him to stand for forty — I do not know whether he said days, months, or years — than to pass in front of a person praying."
