Hadith #109

English Translation

Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Budayl, from ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭalḥah, from Rāshid ibn Saʿd, from Abū ʿĀmir al-Hawzanī, from al-Miqdām Abū Karīmah رضي الله عنه, from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, that he said: "Whoever leaves behind a dependent, then [the responsibility is] upon Allāh and His Messenger" — and perhaps he said: "then upon us. And whoever leaves behind wealth, it is for his heirs. And the maternal uncle is the heir of the one who has no heir. And I am the heir of the one who has no heir — I inherit from him and pay his blood-money." Ḥajjāj narrated to us saying: Shuʿbah narrated to us — and he mentioned it — and said: from al-Miqdām, of Kindah, who was from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, from the Prophet ﷺ, with something similar.
