Hadith #108

English Translation

Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us saying: Ḥarīz informed us, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī ʿAwf al-Jurashī, from al-Miqdām ibn Maʿdī Karib al-Kindī رضي الله عنه, who said: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "Indeed, I have been given the Book and its like with it. Indeed, I have been given the Qurʾān and its like with it. Soon a man will be reclining on his couch, full, saying: 'Stick to this Qurʾān — whatever you find in it that is ḥalāl, declare it ḥalāl, and whatever you find in it that is ḥarām, declare it ḥarām.' Indeed, the meat of domestic donkeys is not permissible for you, nor any predatory animal with fangs. And no lost property belonging to a treaty-holder [muʿāhad] is lawful, unless its owner has no need of it. And whoever stops at a people's place, they must host them. If they do not host them, then [the guests] have the right to take from them the equivalent of their hospitality."
