English Translation
Yaḥyā ibn Ghaylān narrated to us: al-Mufaḍḍal ibn Faḍālah narrated to us: ʿAyyāsh ibn ʿAbbās narrated to me, from Abū al-Ḥuṣayn al-Haytham ibn Shufayy, that he heard him say: I went out with a companion of mine called Abū ʿĀmir, a man from al-Maʿāfir, to pray in Īliyāʾ (Jerusalem). Their preacher was a man from al-Azd called Abū Rayḥānah, from the Companions. Abū al-Ḥuṣayn said: My companion reached the mosque before me, then I caught up and sat beside him. He asked me: 'Did you hear the sermon of Abū Rayḥānah?' I said: 'No.' He said: 'I heard him say: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited ten things — al-washr (filing teeth), al-washm (tattooing), al-natf (plucking), a man lying with another man without a barrier garment, a woman lying with another woman without a barrier garment, for a man to put silk at the bottom of his garments like decorative borders, to put it on his shoulders like the non-Arabs, plunder, riding on tiger-skins, and wearing a ring except for one in authority.'
