English Translation
Rawḥ narrated to us: Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Abū Jaʿfar al-Madīnī, he said: I heard ʿUmārah ibn Khuzaymah ibn Thābit narrating from ʿUthmān ibn Ḥunayf, that a blind man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, supplicate to Allah to cure me.' He said: 'If you wish, I shall delay that, which is better for your Hereafter; and if you wish, I shall supplicate for you.' He said: 'No, rather supplicate to Allah for me.' So he ordered him to perform wuḍūʾ, pray two rakʿahs, and make this supplication: O Allah, I ask You and turn to You through Your Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, the Prophet ﷺ of Mercy. O Muḥammad, I turn through you to my Lord for this need of mine, so grant it and accept my intercession regarding him and his intercession regarding me. He used to say this repeatedly, then he said afterward: 'I think it also contains: that You accept my intercession regarding him.' The man did so and was cured. Muʾammal narrated to us: Ḥammād — meaning Ibn Salamah — narrated to us: Abū Jaʿfar al-Khaṭmī narrated to us, from ʿUmārah ibn Khuzaymah ibn Thābit, from ʿUthmān ibn Ḥunayf, that a man came to the Prophet ﷺ whose sight had gone — and he mentioned the ḥadīth.
