English Translation
Ḥasan ibn Mūsā narrated to us: Ibn Lahīʿah narrated to us: al-Ḥārith ibn Yazīd narrated to us, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿUthmān al-Anṣārī, from Hāniʾ ibn Muʿāwiyah al-Ṣadafī, who narrated to him, saying: I went on ḥajj during the time of ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān and sat in the mosque of the Prophet ﷺ. There was a man narrating to them, saying: 'We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day when a man came and prayed at this pillar. He rushed before completing his prayer, then left. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If this man had died, he would have died not being upon anything of the religion. A man may lighten his prayer yet still complete it.' I asked about the man — who he was — and was told: ʿUthmān ibn Ḥunayf al-Anṣārī.
