حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ بَلَغَهُ أَنَّ رَافِعًا يُحَدِّثُ فِي ذَلِكَ
بِنَهْيٍ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَاهُ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ كِرَاءِ الْمَزَارِعِ فَتَرَكَهَا ابْنُ عُمَرَ فَكَانَ لَا يُكْرِيهَا فَكَانَ إِذَا سُئِلَ يَقُولُ زَعَمَ ابْنُ خَدِيجٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ كِرَاءِ الْمَزَارِعِ

English Translation
Ismāʿīl ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us: Ayyūb informed us, from Nāfiʿ, that Ibn ʿUmar heard that Rāfiʿ was narrating a prohibition from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding that. So he went to him — and I was with him — and asked him. He said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited renting out farmland.' So Ibn ʿUmar abandoned it and would not rent his farmland. When asked, he would say: 'Ibn Khadīj claims that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited renting farmland.'
