حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ عَنْ جَدِّهِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا لَاقُو الْعَدُوِّ غَدًا وَلَيْسَتْ مَعَنَا مُدًى قَالَ أَعْجِلْ أَوْ أَرِنْ مَا أَنْهَرَ الدَّمَ وَذُكِرَ اسْمُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ فَ
كُلْ لَيْسَ السِّنَّ وَالظُّفُرَ وَسَأُحَدِّثُكَ أَمَّا السِّنُّ فَعَظْمٌ وَأَمَّا الظُّفُرُ فَمُدَى الْحَبَشَةِ قَالَ وَأَصَابَنَا نَهْبُ إِبِلٍ وَغَنَمٍ فَنَدَّ مِنْهَا بَعِيرٌ فَرَمَاهَا رَجُلٌ بِسَهْمٍ فَحَبَسَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ لَهَذِهِ الْإِبِلِ أَوَابِدَ كَأَوَابِدِ الْوَحْشِ فَإِذَا غَلَبَكُمْ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ فَافْعَلُوا بِهِ هَكَذَا
Isnad Chain
English Translation
Yaḥyā narrated to us, from Sufyān, he said: My father narrated to me, from ʿAbāyah ibn Rifāʿah ibn Rāfiʿ ibn Khadīj, from his grandfather Rāfiʿ ibn Khadīj, he said: I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we will meet the enemy tomorrow and we have no knives.' He said: 'Hasten — or: use whatever causes the blood to flow, and the name of Allah is mentioned over it, then eat. Not the tooth or the nail, and I shall tell you about that: as for the tooth, it is bone; and as for the nail, it is the knife of the Abyssinians.' He said: And we obtained spoils of camels and sheep. A camel bolted, and a man shot it with an arrow and stopped it. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'These camels have wild tendencies like wild beasts. When any of them overpowers you, do the same to it.'
