حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَيُّوبَ الْغَافِقِيَّ حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي إِيَاسُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ يَقُولُ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ { فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ ا

لْعَظِيمِ } قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اجْعَلُوهَا فِي رُكُوعِكُمْ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ { سَبِّحْ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى } قَالَ اجْعَلُوهَا فِي سُجُودِكُمْ

English Translation

ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir al-Juhanī narrated: When the verse 'So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most Great' was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us: "Place it in your rukūʿ (bowing)." And when the verse 'Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High' was revealed, he said: "Place it in your sujūd (prostration)."
