حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي قَبِيلٍ قَالَ لَمْ أَسْمَعْ مِنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ إِلَّا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ وَحَدَّثَنِيهِ يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَن
ِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ هَلَاكُ أُمَّتِي فِي الْكِتَابِ وَاللَّبَنِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا الْكِتَابُ وَاللَّبَنُ قَالَ يَتَعَلَّمُونَ الْقُرْآنَ فَيَتَأَوَّلُونَهُ عَلَى غَيْرِ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَيُحِبُّونَ اللَّبَنَ فَيَدَعُونَ الْجَمَاعَاتِ وَالْجُمَعَ وَيَبْدُونَ

English Translation
Abū Qabīl narrated: The only ḥadīth I heard from ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir was this one. Ibn Lahīʿah said: And Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb also narrated it to me, from Abū al-Khayr, from ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir al-Juhanī, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The destruction of my Ummah is in the Book and milk." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the Book and milk?" He said: "They learn the Quran and interpret it contrary to what Allah عز وجل revealed. And they love milk, so they abandon the congregations and the Friday prayers, and they move to the countryside."
