ʿIyāḍ ibn Ḥimār narrated: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, a man from my people insults me and he is beneath me. Is there any harm in my retaliating against him?" He said: "Two men who exchange insults are two devils — they hurl accusations and lies at each other."
