حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ قَالَ عَفَّانُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ أَخِي مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ أَنَّ النّ
َبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِثْمُ الْمُسْتَبَّيْنِ مَا قَالَا فَعَلَى الْبَادِئِ مَا لَمْ يَعْتَدِ قَالَ عَفَّانُ أَوْ حَتَّى يَعْتَدِيَ الْمَظْلُومُ

English Translation
Bahz and ʿAffān narrated to us, they said: Hammām narrated to us — ʿAffān said in his narration: Qatādah narrated to us — from Yazīd, the brother of Muṭarrif, from ʿIyāḍ ibn Ḥimār, that the Prophet ﷺ said: "The sin of two who exchange insults — whatever they say is upon the one who initiated, as long as the wronged one does not transgress." ʿAffān said: "Or until the wronged one transgresses."
