English Translation

ʿAbdullāh ibn Numayr narrated to us, from ʿUthmān ibn Ḥakīm, who said: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz informed me, from Yaʿlā ibn Murrah, who said: "I saw three things from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that no one saw before me nor will anyone see after me. I went out with him on a journey. When we were on part of the road, we passed by a woman sitting with a child of hers. She said: 'O Messenger of Allah, this child has been afflicted with an ailment, and it has afflicted us through him. He is seized I do not know how many times a day.' He said: 'Hand him to me.' She raised him up to him, and he placed him between himself and the front of the saddle. Then he opened his mouth and blew into it three times, saying: 'In the name of Allah, I am the servant of Allah. Be gone, O enemy of Allah!' Then he handed him back to her and said: 'Meet us on the return at this place and inform us how he has done.' We went and returned, and we found her at that place with three sheep. He said: 'How has your child done?' She said: 'By the One who sent you with the truth, we have not noticed anything wrong with him until now. Take these sheep.' He said: 'Go down, take one of them and return the rest.' He said: And I went out with him one day to the open ground. When we were in the open, he said: 'Woe to you, look — do you see anything that can conceal me?' I said: 'I see nothing that can conceal you except a tree, and I do not think it can conceal you.' He said: 'What is near it?' I said: 'A tree like it, or close to it.' He said: 'Go to them and say: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commands you to come together, by Allah's permission.' So they came together, and he relieved himself. Then he returned and said: 'Go to them and tell them: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commands each of you to return to your place.' They returned. And I was sitting with him one day when a camel came trotting until it lowered its neck before him, and its eyes shed tears. He said: 'Woe to you, find out whose camel this is, for it has a story.' I went out searching for its owner and found it belonged to a man from the Anṣār. I called him over, and he said: 'What is the matter with your camel?' The man said: 'What is the matter with it? I do not know, by Allah. We worked it and used it for irrigation until it became unable to draw water, so last night we decided to slaughter it and divide its meat.' He said: 'Do not do that. Give it to me, or sell it to me.' He said: 'Rather, it is yours, O Messenger of Allah.' He branded it with the mark of charity and sent it on its way."
