حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى عَل
َى مَيِّتٍ فَسَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا وَشَاهِدِنَا وَغَائِبِنَا وَصَغِيرِنَا وَكَبِيرِنَا وَذَكَرِنَا وَأُنْثَانَا قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بِهَؤُلَاءِ الثَّمَانِ الْكَلِمَاتِ وَزَادَ كَلِمَتَيْنِ مَنْ أَحْيَيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَأَحْيِهِ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَمَنْ تَوَفَّيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَتَوَفَّهُ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِنَحْوِهِ

English Translation
ʿAffān narrated to us, Hammām narrated to us, Yaḥyā ibn Abī Kathīr informed us, ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Qatādah narrated to us, from his father, that he witnessed the Prophet ﷺ pray over a deceased person and heard him say: "O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, our present and our absent, our young and our old, our male and our female." He said: And Abū Salamah narrated these eight phrases to me and added two phrases: "Whomever of us You give life, let him live upon Islam, and whomever of us You cause to die, let him die upon faith." ʿAffān narrated to us, Abān narrated to us, Yaḥyā ibn Abī Kathīr narrated to us, from Ibrāhīm, from the Prophet ﷺ — similarly.
