English Translation

ʿAffān narrated to us, Abān narrated to us, Yaḥyā ibn Abī Kathīr narrated to us, a shaykh from the Anṣār called Abū Ibrāhīm narrated to us, from his father, that the Prophet ﷺ of Allah ﷺ, when he prayed over the deceased, would say: "O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, our present and our absent, our male and our female, our young and our old." Yaḥyā said: And Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated this hadith to me from the Prophet ﷺ, and added: "O Allah, whomever of us You give life, let him live upon Islam, and whomever of us You cause to die, let him die upon faith."
