حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنِي أَوْسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَبُو مُقَاتِلٍ السَّلُولِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي بُرَيْدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ مَالِكِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُحَلِّقِي
نَ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ قَالَ يَقُولُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْقَوْمِ وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ أَوْ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَأَنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ مَحْلُوقُ الرَّأْسِ فَمَا يَسُرُّنِي بِحَلْقِ رَأْسِي حُمْرَ النَّعَمِ أَوْ خَطَرًا عَظِيمًا

English Translation
Surayj ibn al-Nuʿmān narrated to us, Aws ibn ʿAbdillāh Abū Muqātil al-Salūlī narrated to me, who said: Burayd ibn Abī Maryam narrated to me, from his father Mālik ibn Rabīʿah, that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "O Allah, forgive those who shave their heads. O Allah, forgive those who shave their heads." A man from the people said: "And those who trim?" the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the third — or fourth — time: "And those who trim." Then he said: "And on that day my head was shaved, and I would not exchange the shaving of my head for red camels — or a great fortune."
