English Translation
Surayj ibn al-Nuʿmān narrated to us, Ziyād — or ʿAbbād — narrated to us, from al-Ḥajjāj, from ʿUmayr ibn Saʿīd, from Sabrah ibn Abī Sabrah, from his father: that he came to the Prophet ﷺ who said, 'What are your children's names?' He said, 'So-and-so, so-and-so, and ʿAbd al-ʿUzzā.' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'He is ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. The most deserving of your names — or among the best of your names — if you name [your children] are ʿAbdullāh, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, and al-Ḥārith.'
