حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَيَّاشُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ شِيَيْمِ بْنِ بَيْتَانَ
عَنْ جُنَادَةَ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ بُسْرِ بْنِ أَرْطَأَةَ فَأُتِيَ بِمَصْدَرٍ قَدْ سَرَقَ بُخْتِيَّةً فَقَالَ لَوْلَا أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَانَا عَنْ الْقَطْعِ فِي الْغَزْوِ لَقَطَعْتُكَ فَجُلِدَ ثُمَّ خُلِّيَ سَبِيلُهُ

English Translation
ʿAttāb ibn Ziyād narrated to us saying: ʿAbdullāh informed us saying: Saʿīd ibn Yazīd informed us saying: ʿAyyāsh ibn ʿAbbās narrated to us, from Shiyaym ibn Baytān, from Junādah ibn Abī Umayyah who said: I was with Busr ibn Arṭāʾah when a man named Maṣdar who had stolen a Bactrian camel was brought to him. He said, 'Were it not that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid us from cutting [hands] during military expeditions, I would have cut yours.' So he was flogged and released.
