Al-Walīd ibn Muslim Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Dimashqī narrated to us in Makkah by dictation saying: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yazīd ibn Jābir narrated to me saying: Yaḥyā ibn Jābir al-Ṭāʾī, the judge of Ḥimṣ, narrated to me saying: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr al-Ḥaḍramī narrated to me, from his father, that he heard al-Nawwās ibn Samʿān al-Kilābī say: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the Dajjāl one morning, sometimes lowering his voice and sometimes raising it, until we thought he was in a grove of palm trees. When we went to him later, he recognized that in our faces. We asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, you mentioned the Dajjāl this morning, lowering and raising your voice until we thought he was in a grove of palm trees.' He said, 'Other than the Dajjāl is what I fear more for you. If he emerges while I am among you, I will be his adversary on your behalf. If he emerges and I am not among you, then each person is his own adversary, and Allah is my successor over every Muslim. He is a young man with curly, kinky hair, one eye protruding. He will emerge from a gap between Shām and Iraq, spreading corruption right and left. O servants of Allah, hold firm!' We said, 'O Messenger of Allah, how long will he remain on earth?' He said, 'Forty days: a day like a year, a day like a month, a day like a week, and the rest of his days like your days.' We said, 'O Messenger of Allah, that day which is like a year — will one day's prayers suffice us in it?' He said, 'No, estimate its measure.' We said, 'How fast will he travel through the earth?' He said, 'Like rain driven by the wind.' He will pass by a people and call them, and they will respond. He will command the sky and it will rain, and the earth and it will grow vegetation. Their livestock will return to them with the tallest humps, the fullest flanks, and the most abundant udders. He will pass by another people and call them, but they will reject his claim. Their wealth will follow him, and they will wake up destitute. He will pass by ruins and say, "Bring forth your treasures," and its treasures will follow him like swarms of bees. He will command a man to be killed, striking him with a sword and cutting him in two, placed the distance of an archery target apart, then he will call him and he will come forward with his face beaming. While he is doing that, Allah عز وجل will send the Messiah, ʿĪsā ibn Maryam عليه السلام, who will descend at the white minaret east of Damascus, between two garments dyed with saffron, placing his hands on the wings of two angels. He will pursue him and kill him at the eastern gate of Ludd. While they are thus, Allah عز وجل will reveal to ʿĪsā ibn Maryam عليه السلام: "I have brought forth servants of Mine whom no one has the power to fight. So gather My servants to al-Ṭūr." Then Allah عز وجل will send Yaʾjūj and Maʾjūj, and they are as Allah عز وجل said: {from every elevation, descending}. ʿĪsā and his companions will beseech Allah عز وجل, and He will send worms upon their necks, and they will die like the death of a single soul. ʿĪsā and his companions will descend and find no spot on earth that is not filled with their stench and decay. ʿĪsā and his companions will beseech Allah عز وجل, and He will send birds like the necks of Bactrian camels that will carry them and throw them wherever Allah عز وجل wills.' Ibn Jābir said: ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yazīd al-Saksakī narrated to me from Kaʿb — or someone else — who said: 'They will throw them at al-Muhabbil.' Ibn Jābir said: I said, 'O Abū Yazīd, where is al-Muhabbil?' He said, 'Where the sun rises.' 'Then Allah عز وجل will send rain from which no house of hair or mud will be sheltered for forty days, and it will wash the earth until it leaves it like a mirror. The earth will be told, "Bring forth your fruit and restore your blessing." On that day, a group will eat from a single pomegranate and take shade under its rind. Milk will be blessed such that a single milking she-camel will suffice a large group of people, a cow will suffice a clan, and a sheep will suffice a household. While they are in that state, Allah عز وجل will send a pleasant wind beneath their armpits that will take the soul of every Muslim — or he said, every believer — and the worst of people will remain, fornicating like donkeys, and upon them — or he said, upon it — the Hour will come.'
