ʿAlī ibn Baḥr narrated to us, Hishām ibn Yūsuf narrated to us, Maʿmar narrated to us, from Yaḥyā ibn Abī Kathīr, from ʿĀmir ibn Zayd al-Bukālī: that he heard ʿUtbah ibn ʿAbd al-Sulamī say: A Bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about the Pool. He mentioned Paradise, then the Bedouin said, 'Is there fruit in it?' He said, 'Yes, and in it is a tree called Ṭūbā' — and he mentioned something I do not know. The Bedouin asked, 'Which tree of our land does it resemble?' He said, 'It does not resemble any tree of your land.' the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Have you been to Shām?' He said, 'No.' He said, 'It resembles a tree in Shām called the walnut tree. It grows on a single trunk and its top spreads out.' He asked, 'How large is its trunk?' He said, 'If a young she-camel from your family's camels were to travel around its trunk, she would break her collarbone from old age before completing it.' He asked, 'Are there grapes in it?' He said, 'Yes.' He asked, 'How large is a cluster?' He said, 'A month's journey for a speckled crow without stumbling.' He asked, 'How large is a single grape?' He said, 'Has your father ever slaughtered a large billy goat from his flock?' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'And skinned its hide and gave it to your mother saying, "Make us a bucket from it"?' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'That single grape would feed you and your household.' The Bedouin said, 'And the majority of my clan?' He said, 'Yes, and the majority of your clan.'
