Hadith #74
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ بَهْرَامَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَهْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَوْشَبٍ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ غَنْمٍ أَنَّ شَدَّادَ بْنَ أَوْسٍ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ حَدِيثِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيَحْمِلَنَّ شِرَارُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ عَلَى سَنَنِ الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ حَذْوَ الْقُذَّةِ بِالْقُذَّةِ
English Translation
Hāshim narrated to us saying: ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd — meaning Ibn Bahrām — narrated to us saying: Shahr — meaning Ibn Ḥawshab — narrated to us, Ibn Ghanm narrated to me that Shaddād ibn Aws narrated to him from the ḥadīth of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ: "The worst of this Ummah will surely follow the ways of those who came before them — the People of the Book — step by step, feather by feather."
