English Translation

Ḥasan al-Ashyab narrated to us saying: Ibn Lahīʿah narrated to us saying: ʿUbaydullāh ibn al-Mughīrah narrated it to us, from Yaʿlā ibn Shaddād ibn Aws, who said: Shaddād ibn Aws said: Abū Dharr used to hear a ḥadīth from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ containing severity, then he would go out to his people and convey it, and perhaps he would make it strict for them. Then the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ would later give a concession regarding it, but Abū Dharr would not hear it, so Abū Dharr would cling to the strict ruling.
