حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ ثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ يَقُولُ لَقَدْ أَصْبَحْتُمْ وَأَمْسَيْتُمْ تَرْغَبُونَ فِيمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَزْهَدُ فِيهِ أَصْبَحْتُمْ تَرْغَبُونَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَكَ
انَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَزْهَدُ فِيهَا وَاللَّهِ مَا أَتَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةٌ مِنْ دَهْرِهِ إِلَّا كَانَ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا لَهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ رَأَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَسْلِفُ

English Translation
ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ said: 'You have come to desire that which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to renounce. You desire the worldly life, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to renounce it. By Allah, not a single night passed over the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except that what he owed was more than what he had.' Some of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'We saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taking loans.'
