English Translation

ʿAbdullāh ibn Muṭīʿ narrated from his father that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say on the Day of the Conquest of Makkah: "No Qurashī shall be killed in captivity after today." And no one from the emancipated ones of Quraysh accepted Islam other than Muṭīʿ, and his name had been al-ʿĀṣī (the disobedient), but the Prophet ﷺ named him Muṭīʿ (the obedient).
