حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ الْهَاشِمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ الْمَدِينِيَّ أَخْبَرَنِي يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ خُصَيْفَةَ عَن عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ السُّلَمِيِّ أَنَّ نَافِعَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ قَدِمَ عَلَى
النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ أَخَذَهُ وَجَعٌ قَدْ كَادَ يُبْطِلُهُ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَزَعَمَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهُ ضَعْ يَمِينَكَ عَلَى مَكَانِكَ الَّذِي تَشْتَكِي فَامْسَحْ بِهَا سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ فِي كُلِّ مَسْحَةٍ

English Translation
ʿUthmān ibn Abī al-ʿĀṣ رضي الله عنه came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he had been afflicted with a pain that had nearly incapacitated him. He mentioned it to the Prophet ﷺ, and it is claimed that the Prophet ﷺ said to him: "Place your right hand on the spot where you feel pain, then wipe it seven times and say: 'I seek refuge in Allah's might and power from the evil of what I find' — with each wipe."
