حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ ب
ْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ أَنَّ آخِرَ مَا فَارَقَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ بِقَوْمٍ فَخَفِّفْ بِهِمْ حَتَّى وَقَّتَ لِي اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ

English Translation
ʿUthmān ibn Abī al-ʿĀṣ رضي الله عنه narrated that the last thing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ parted him with was: "When you lead a people in prayer, make it brief for them" — and he specified for me: "Recite {Read in the name of your Lord who created} [al-ʿAlaq]."
