حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَخْضَرِ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَنَّ عَطَاءَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ بَعْضَ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللّ
َهِ أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَفْضَلُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُؤْمِنٌ مُجَاهِدٌ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَالُوا ثُمَّ مَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ثُمَّ مُؤْمِنٌ فِي شِعْبٍ مِنْ الشِّعَابِ يَتَّقِي اللَّهَ وَيَدَعُ النَّاسَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ

English Translation
Rawḥ narrated to us, he said: Ṣāliḥ ibn Abī al-Akhḍar narrated to us, from Ibn Shihāb, that ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yazīd narrated to him that some of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ narrated to him that he said to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ: 'O Messenger of Allāh, which people are best?' The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'A believer who strives with his life and wealth in the cause of Allāh عز وجل.' They said: 'Then who, O Messenger of Allāh?' He said: 'Then a believer in a mountain pass among the mountain passes, fearing Allāh and sparing the people from his harm.'
